What's your connection to the Ride:Well Tour?
Cross-Country Cyclist, Advocate, Friend of Blood:Water, Friend of Venture Expeditions
About Me:
I am a passionate follower of Christ. I have a heart for missions and am excited to use my athletic abilities to glorify God and help people in Africa. I look forward to a challenging yet rewarding summer of biking across the US. I am excited about making new friends, seeing the countryside and just relaxing. I will graduate in May 2009 with my Master's in Nutrition and will start working after the bike ride (not sure where I will work yet but am open to ideas for pretty much anywhere in the country). I try to make the most of every day, staying focused on what is important and knowing that life is short. I love jump roping and running marathons. Love God, Love family, Love friends, Love life.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me financially and/or through prayer. A special thanks to SDC Nutrition LLC for providing me with "real" energy sustaining nutrition products. www.tryabouttime.com

I have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bicycle across America to raise funds and awareness for Blood:Water Mission, an organization that helps underdeveloped communities in Africa establish clean-water wells, latrines, and health clinics. We will be stopping in communities and churches to talk about the water and blood crises in Africa and enlist people in active support of Blood:Water Mission.

Would you please consider sacrificing financially as I sacrifice physically for this cause? In order to go I need to raise $4,895. I will meet my fundraising goal, if 100 of my friends and/or family donate $50 each.

The Journey is More Important Than the Destination

After 2 months and 250 hours of riding my bicycle beginning in Long Beach, CA and finishing the trip with a 143 mile ride starting in Baltimore, MD, I finally arrived at the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Henlopen, DE where we took our bikes into the ocean for a fantastic celebration! I rode 3,573 miles across 10 states, by beautiful beaces in CA, through 115 degree deserts in AZ, over 8,000+ ft high mountains, around dead mountain lions, possums, squirrels, moles, and other various roadkill, across loo… Continue

All The Same...But Different

I arrived back in Texas yesterday and everything seemed the same as I left it...busy and chaotic. I sure do miss the simplicity of living on the road. I went on a bike ride with my dad as soon as we got to the house. I rode my mountain bike, which had a flat before I even started. We rode to a restaurant to eat sushi (which I have been craving for the last 2 months). It was chopstick Tuesday (a tradition Lyzz and I started this summer that we encourage everyone to partake in....use chopsticks fo… Continue

Fast and Furious

This Week: Rain, Rain, and more Rain! Crashes/Hospital visits: Deb slid on rocks..road rash; Seth tried to dodge Deb and flipped over guard rail...ripped shorts and 10 stitches in quadricep; Erin White hit a giant dog and slid on her back and hit/cracked her helmet..concussion. She is excited about finally having her own hospital bracelet. I just took 10 stitches out of Cody's head after some intense 50 meter out and back time trials at night around a lighted cone on a little girl's bike. Cody w… Continue

Every Mile Makes a Difference

Everyone else has written about the details of our journey and all the crazy things we have seen, like dead mountain lions, a man driving a horse and covered wagon down the Hwy, and Josie the Bear, so I thought I would write something a little different.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my purpose here and about life in general. One of my greatest fears is that I will one day look back on my life and realize that I did not live to my fullest potential in fulfilling God's will for me to mak… Continue

Brian...the house was so empty this morning. We all ate blueberries over the kitchen island this morning in honor of you...praising God for every bite and every gift given to us this past week. Thanks for entering our lives and home. You are forever welcome and forever part of our family.

My employees and I are excited about getting to meet you and all the riders when you stop and spend the night with us in Kaufman, TX on July 12th. We are preparing a concert festival and community-wide blood drive for that day at our store. We want to DO things (for we are Servants!) to help make your trip during that leg of the journey more comfortable, so we'll be studying the websites and deciding what kinds of things we can do while you are in Kaufman. Let us know specific preferences and we will do our best to fulfill your wishes! God bless ALL you do for Him today! In Christ, Shelley/The Servant's Bookstore and Coffee Bar

So Tyler and I were trying to think of some possible style trends we could start this summer, like fedoras or sideburns or something, just wondering if you have any ideas.
