What's your connection to the Ride:Well Tour?
Cross-Country Cyclist, Advocate, Friend of Blood:Water, Friend of Venture Expeditions
About Me:
I moved to Nashville in the Fall of 2007 to work with Blood:Water Mission in the planning and carrying out of Ride:Well 2008. I rode cross-country last year as a part of that trip, making amazing friends along the way, and learning first hand about God's abundant grace and care for His children. This past October, I traveled to Africa with Blood:Water Mission and saw first hand the clean water projects the people of Africa are developing through partnership with Blood:Water and its donors.

I am currently working as a graphic artist, musician/songwriter, and barista in Nashville.

Thanks to Ride:Well '09

Hey there Ride:Well,

I just wanted to thank all of you for riding as a part of Ride:Well this year. I had a great time meeting you this weekend and I wish that I could have been there for more, especially to ride out with you yesterday. It is funny how things time out sometimes, but now that you are gone and my graphic design project is over, I have two days off. Wish I could have shifted things around a bit, because it was exciting and interesting to meet as many of you as I did. As it stands… Continue

New Directions

This is a blog I posted on my myspace page a few days ago that I wanted to share here as well.

The Ride:Well Tour has finished up, at least the biking part has anyway. But what we started is only beginning.

When we finished up a couple weeks ago, I had a hard time of it. The ride was one of the most transforming experiences of my life and the people that I rode with had become some of my closest friends. I entered into community in ways I h… Continue

Erin and the Booze get Warped!

I had the extreme joy of hanging out with Erin McDermott and two of her friends, Jay and Hope, yesterday. I am out with Relient K right now on the Warped Tour running a Blood:Water Mission table. Erin, Jay and Hope are on a road trip up the left coast and it just so happened to work out that we could be together in Fresno. It was a good time.

Here we are at lunch on Wednesday. We ate at BJ's Kountry Kitchen because the Road Trip Crew decided to not eat at chain restaurants. Well it turns out th… Continue

Well, not as well as me or Lori would like. We had to bow out of the Spain trip in March due to work conflicts that couldn't be worked out. We are now shooting for the Dominican Republic. Things are being planned out further ahead of time and work should cooperate better with this one. I hear the tour is going for another year. Are you actively participating this year with it? Lori and I have called dibs on you for sleeping arrangements this year if you are riding through Roanoke!

David, I promised myself that I would write to you after six months to make sure that time had not tried to lessen the implications of what you accomplished, or started, this summer. As I have checked out your web page it brought me great joy to see that you have been able to see your mission through to Africa. WOW. You really bring home the impact on your page. Your CD has made it into my regular car rotation. I like the phrasings you come up with in your songs very much. I am curious about some of the stories, like who is Lorraine? I recognize some of the lyrics were probably inspired by your A.T. trip. Anyway, the thing is, you are making an impact in this life and I admire you for it. You and your buddies made quite an impression on my wife and I. We have decided to go on a mission trip for the first time in our lives. I have begun Bible school to further serve God's plan. You guys were sort of the tipping point for me taking real steps forward. So, thanks.

Nashville is probably my favorite place in the States along with Fido's and the Batman building.
I was this >< close to taking the 21st Ave exit when I drove down I 40 on my way back to LA last week.
Such a happy little place.
It makes me smile.
Oh, and if you've got any other ride:well-esque projects on your heart, let me know. I'd love to get involved.
Keep it up my friend and say a few extra prayers for Matthew this weekend.
-Love.

I'd also like to thank you, you and the entire team.
I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet the few of you who hadn't said your goodbyes in D.C. and see the scope of the relationships you'd built through the ride. God is using all of you in profound ways and I feel privileged to have been in presence of such passionate revolutionaries.

P.S. Which coffee shop in Nashvegas might you froth for?

David, it has been a couple of weeks since you visited our town, but I have not forgotten the blessings you brought with you. Namely, knowing that so much is possible if we but take action. I can only imagine the adjustments you have been going through since you hopped off the bike. I imagine that the effort it takes to adjust to "normal" life can take some of the wind out of your sails. Don't let it. Remember that you have achieved something amazing. Even more, you have shared it with so many. And it has been done in the name of God. I would imagine that it will rank up there with other great milestones in your life, graduations, weddings, and that ride across America with a group of amazing people. Carry on in that spirit, as it is inspiring.
