this summer i met an incredible group of people.

ride:well 09; i never thought there could be another group of people as crazy as the 08ers until you all came along.

lisa, lisa, lyzz, jen, drew, criselda, bethany, brady, cody, tyler, brian, deb, seth, josh, erin, erin, erik, anthony, and jacob, congratulations on accomplishing this amazing feat; riding your bicycles across america. im sure you heard you share of, "you cant do that", "youre not serious", "do you even ride bikes?", and also the occasional, "no y'all aint!", or "who does that?",… Continue

"today we met our team" june 5, 2008 subtitle: happy anniversary.

i just read my journal from the day we met and i had to blog about our anniversary and how i am feeling.

i know iron mike blogged about this yesterday. i just read it, and that's why i cant stop crying. i dont know if anyone who hasn't experienced this bike tour can ever understand the way it effects you. it's not just a cross country bike trip that you do just to do; it's a life changing experience that you are a part of for a short time but, then for the rest of your life you always remember… Continue

i feel like riding your bike across america is easier than being back from riding your bike across america...at least in retrospect.

being back is still hard. will it ever get easy? for me, im not sure it will. but will it be okay. yes, i know it will. live in the tension. that's what a few wise friends of mine have been telling me. but my question is, what does that look like? how does it flesh out?

what i can do is remember. remember moments, days, a week, a state, a person i met along the way, the way i felt on century days, the way i felt when i got in the van instead of riding, the way i felt when i rode for 2 weeks str… Continue

where in the world is my pink seated fuji?!

first of all, to reiderate the text i sent to my teammates today, happy monthiversary of riding into the atlantic ocean. today marks a month and i cannot even believe that. life has changed so much since then. not only life, but me. i have gone through a lot, trying to learn whatever it is that i think im supposed to be learning. trying to stay on track with God, but always falling short of who He has created me to be by making mistakes i cant take back. but i know they all happened for a reason… Continue

the ride:well show continues...

two of my closest friends, jay and hope, and i are on a road trip. our destination. portland, oregon. but we made some stops along the way. our first, fresno.

boozer already captured our trip to visit him in fresno. if you havent read it, you should. it's called, "erin and the booze get warped", and it's great. we had a blast and it was so good to see him. i would say more, but then i would just be repeating what he already said on his blog. what i will say is this: seeing boozer helped me real… Continue

Ok, thanks Erin!!
Couple questions... What day was the most difficult on your trip? When you were feeling beat, what did you do to bring yourself back up? Is there any exercise that you did before your trip that you feel benefitted you the most?

Thank you! I found out about all of this when my good friend Josh got picked to be a rider this year. It's such an important and awesome idea and I'm going to push to do all I can to help. Awesome job riding last year.

We are going to drive from Minneapolis out to Mt. Rushmore, SD and then make our way back. I think it's going to be really cool, we get to ride through the bad-lands.

We have almost 20 riders between students and leaders, and we have a support team of 5 or 6. It's been a lot of work, but by God's grace it is coming together amazingly, and everyone is super excited.

Thanks for telling me about RWT!!

I have been able to go to bike shops and look at bikes but I have not been able to ride them. The snow is melting now. Spring is coming!! I have one bike shop that is very helpful but it's rather expensive. I will buy one when I get some money and the snow is gone.

Hey Erin! I'm soooooo excited! I can't wait. Trainings going alright. I've only ridden once since I got accepted, so I really need to get my butt back into gear. I'm just having a hard time finding the time right now! Jess is helping a ton though. She is giving me lots of insight as well as training with me. She's so awesome! Hope you're doing well and that I'll get to see you again at some point on the tour.
