About Me:
I live for adventure because it makes me feel closer to God. The One who created, in a blink of an eye, the mountains that I so love to climb. There's nothing else I'd rather be doing than spending my days outdoors. I enjoy pushing my limits to see how much my body can endure. I did Ride:Well '08 and it changed my life.

... I'm from Austin, TX

"The bizarre trend in mountaineers is not the risk they take, but the large degree to which they value life. They are not crazy because they don't dare, they're crazy because they do. These people tend to enjoy life to the fullest, laugh the hardest, travel the most, and work the least."

The Music City Miracle

Yes, we have arrived in Nashville which I like to call the Music City Miracle. At the beginning of it all, none of us would have imagined that by the time we reached Nashville we would have raised almost our entire financial goal for this trip. I hope that as we ride we blow away our goal all for the love of Africa. I've never met a group of adventurers with such a passion for one set of people (Africans). I've learned a lot from my fellow riders about what has now become a theme for our trip. T… Continue

Highlights of the week...

Texas has been great. People have been friendly, of course. The places we've been have been interesting. The food (brisket) has been awesome and the riding has been mainly flat.

Highlights:

- I spoke at the Gathering which is the young adult service and my church in Red Oak, TX
- We got a few days off in Dallas to rest and recuperate
- We hosted our first benefit ride where approx. 1500 people showed up
- The Oaks Fellowship hosted a Blood:Water Mission event featuring Brandon Heath
- I got to… Continue

Headwinds and Hailstorms

So we are in Alamogordo, New Mexico and have been knocking out some serious mileage. We are 2 weeks into our riding and have covered almost 1100 miles. We are averaging 86 miles a day which feels more like a 100 because of heat, altitude, and mountain passes. We crossed over the continental divide and saw no aliens in roswell.

But, the story of my week was the day riding into Capitan, NM. Myself and Jessica Blocker were sweep for the day which means we had to stay in the back of the pack all da… Continue

1 week in...

We now have one week under our belts and it has been eventful. We have had many of the unknowns happen to us. Big bike tours require extreme flexibility and patience due to these kind of things. The first day we left LA via the Hollywood hills and climbed our way through the mountains into Palmdale (65 mile ride). Our complete elevation gain was close to 9500 ft which is really crazy for day 1 of a bike tour. The temperature was in the mid 90s but everyone pushed hard and we all made it safely.… Continue

Ready...Set...Ride:Well

So I've been hanging out in Santa Monica for 3 days now getting to know my fellow riders better. We are a rag tag crew form all over the nation. There are 15 riders from 14 different states. One of our riders resides straight out of Kenya. Everything has gone well so far and the team is tying up any loose ends before riding starts. My first 2 days were a little stressful because of a lost bike that happen to be mine. The Santa Monica Fed Ex driver decided to deliver my bike to the wrong address.… Continue

listen, greg, it's a requirement for the grand canyon trip that you come to the training sessions...if you think biking across the US is a good enough reason not so show, then you better think twice. :)
