About Me:
No... that picture isn't me. Its Drew, my 10 year old. But I looked like him when I was 10. I'm just a guy who is trying to find his way by rediscovering what it means to really surrender.

Going to ride in Dallas City Ride...

So... I just decided tonight June 13, that I am going to ride in the Dallas City Ride on the 28th. I want to do the 46 mile thing. I have an old Italian racing bike in the garage. And a better mountain bike. These were purchased used a few years ago when I thought I was interested in doing some exercise. I will get them out tomorrow. Hmmm... I want to raise $3500 for one well. I have 2 weeks. So... thats like coming up with what, $250 a day. Hmmm... This is going to be interesting. More interesting is that I am about to turn 40 and have not exercised to any great degree in over a decade. I don't want to do anything stupid. We'll see how this goes. I don't feel any need to go fast. Even if it took 4 or 5 hours and that was ridiculously slow, I would be okay with that. I am not sure why this is important to me. But it is.

Notes from a Dallas City Rider

Just a quick note to encourage those of you who can get to Nashville and D.C. to get out and ride with and support the team. There are a lot of ways you can get involved. I really enjoyed meeting a good number of the group: Gregg (kind and just as articulate as all his posts), Erin (yep...she's wonderfully goofy in person as well), David (sorry, David... its hard for me to talk and ride), Mike (his words of spiritual wisdom came in handy when I hit a bit of a wall), Don (nice to meet one… Continue

Mike,
from sea to shining sea, Man ! Thank you for your support and encouragement of this team. Let this be a lesson to you: You are never too old or out of shape to something HUGE for God. And remember, as I say, " Big men coast fast down hills..."

Great post! Congratulations on finishing the 46! That's awesome. I think it's commendable that you set a goal and went for it in just a few weeks. I totally prayed for you and the rest of the team. I'm sure it was just as great an experience for them as it was for you. Hope your body recovers quickly!

The Red Oak event was really good. We got to meet Drew and Aaron and some of the team. Can't wait to get them to Tyler. 1000 miles for a goal--I know that sounds like a lot, but it's very doable. I hope I get to ride some of those miles with you. cya Tuesday.

Mike, I'll be saying a few prayers for you as well as the team tomorrow as you join them in the Dallas City ride.
How about if I just pray that you finish it alive? Please post something about your experience. I'd love to hear how it was for a City rider to jump in and experience some of the Ride Well tour - esp. with only a couple weeks training!

Prayer was, as always, awesome. Sorry I didn't say something to remind you about it earlier in the week.
How's the riding going?
Shoot me an e-mail when you get a chance, I have something to run by you about helping out the team when they're in town. brojocan@gmail.com

ok, maybe "fun" wasn't the right word..umm, how about adventurous? Still, I think it's pretty awesome that this has motivated you so much that you want to train for the Dallas ride, even being "terribly" out of shape. And it's fantastic that you're raising money for 1 well!! Write me a comment or post something about how it went. Can't believe they'll be in Dallas THIS Sat.
