Naomi... you're awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I will need those prayers. Survival is a good objective.
I went out on a ride last night and planned to just do 23 miles again. But I sort of felt horrible from the start. The soreness just wouldn't go away. My butt and wrists were aching. I felt like a total wimp and was pretty discouraged. At the 20 mile point where I would break off and go home I just felt like if I called off the ride I'd be in a bad place mentally. So I just kept riding...and riding. I figured at some point it would get easier and I would get a second wind. Did all the right things with hydration, energy food/fuel, etc. But it never got better. I thought it was going to be a mental battle... but it was all physical. I ended up riding 40 miles... but it was UGLY. Ended up on the bike for well over 4 hours. So... I know I will finish tomorrow. Its just a matter of how much it'll hurt. :-). We'll see how this old body recovers!!! Take care!!!!!!!
Naomi, Thanks for your kind words. It has been some kind of ride watching Donald become known. I sit at the foot of the cross in awe of what He has done. Blessings.
Hey Naomi! Thanks for the encouragement. I didn't know anyone was paying attention. Yeah... I am a total sloth, and sort of an outdoor "wanna-be". I camp a lot, work in the yard a lot, get in a canoe every once in a while, but am terribly out of shape. Big gut, etc. Not sure I will have a blast in the Dallas ride or not. With only 10 days of "training" its been a crash course in pain. 3 miles (the puke ride), then 6, then 10, then 8, then 10, then 12 and then tonight I did my last big training ride. I had worked up to a stronger and faster 12 miles Sunday night. Tonight I went out and did 23 miles which is half of the distance I plan to ride this coming Saturday. I've also been riding mostly at night, so we'll see how I do with the longer distance and heat. It took just over 2 hours to do the 23 miles...ha! So, its going to be a long ride! I wanted to raise $3500 by Saturday but have amended that goal to hopefully raise that by the time the tour/ride ends in D.C. We'll see how that goes! Take care. Thanks again for your note. Blessings to you.
thanks, naomi. i really, really appreciate it. God is big and thinks bigger than i do. i truly trust Him and His plans. it will be a rough rode for dad, but i look forward to beauty and good in this. thanks again. big love.
Thank you for you kind words and prayers. Yes Matthew is an awesome son and I know that he appreciates any prayers you can send out there for his Dad. With God and prayer anything is possible. Matthew just got on a plane in Phoenix and will be in Dallas, where he lives now as he completes his Masters and will be driving into Shreveport, LA, where his Dad is in the hospital, in the morning. So please say a prayer for Matthew to have a safe journey home also. Keep praying for the bikers to continue having a safe trip also. I will be continuing to stay tuned in even though Matthew had to come back.
