This is a question i continually am asking myself being the groups only vegetarian. It all began on a quite road in Arkansas. I was riding my bike minding my own business when a dog began to bark along side me. Being the dog friendly biker i am, I simply looked at it and thought "oh what a cute dog." Well was i wrong. The dog proceeded to run along side me until it came in front of my bike and i hit it knocking it over on its side. Oh no it doesnt stop there. The dog then stood up and i knocked it over a second time. I then dragged the dog for several feet until the dog slowed me down while my front tire rolled half way over the dog and then back down. What a mess, i was screaming, the dog was screaming, lisa was howling (don't know who was louder). I was stunned and stood there as the dog stood up and ran into the woods. The owner of the dog told me he was fine and i shouldnt worry. I gathered up my tears, clipped into my peddles and began my first rotation when that stupid dog came at me again. This time my hero josh acted as a decoy so i could get away.
Lesson One. Dogs and bikes do not mix!
Lesson Two. Dogs do not belong under my tire!
Lesson Three. Never bike alone!
Lesson Four. Not all dogs are created equally!
Lesson Five. Never underestimate the power of a dog!

If Drew hasen't told you already. When being approached by dog, (not on chain). Whether peaceful or ruthless looking. Give it your loudest barking yelping yelling noise and ride directly at it. And if possible run it over. (my wife says nooohhh) But really you should try to run it over that way it will be less inclined to chase the next bike. Do the world a favor.

I guess it is not Dog heaven in Arkansas!!! I can imagine the scene- I can hear your scream! I can see your friends coming to your rescue. I see in another 1mile or so you are still talking about it!! and in the evening, you are beginning to laugh about it, though so much wiser then before!! What is an adventure without some wild animal stories! Chalk that one up for the album!!
See you soon! Lise

Lesson Six: Never underestimate the power of a determined woman. That dog never stood a chance. You sound great. Can't wait to see you in Front Royal Virginia, or maybe Germantown Maryland. Take care and stay away from all dogs in the future.
