Wow, I have so much to say, and I hardly know where to start. I know you all want to be filled in, so I will start by rambling a little to help me unwind. I don't have my own computer along, so I have to rely on the generosity of my friends to update the blog and check out other people's facebooks. I can tweet from my phone, so that helps with the brief updates, but I can only say a little in a few sentences!
At church on Sunday, I spoke during the service to tell the story of how I almost went on this trip, decided not to go, and then changed my mind again. The pastor used it to illustrate his admonition to refrain from being "almost people", those who have good intentions but don't act on them!
Sunday we went from our starting point in LA to Dana Point along the beautiful CA coast. Surf city, just like you'd imagine it! Monday took us from there to San Diego, and Tuesday was an incredible day of biking in the mountains to Anzo Borrega State Park on the edge of the desert. We are way south, folks. Way south. What an amazing day that was. I have so many stories to tell of the adventures Bethany, Brady, and I went on. The tortuous climbs culminated with a wonderful, 10 mile downhill descent. The mountains were drop-dead gorgeous, and I have no idea how to describe the beauty. I'll post pics at some point, and even if you see them, they will hardly do justice. You will just have to come check it out!!!!!
Today was so hard. 80 miles across the desert. So dry. So hot. My gosh, it was exhausting. Woke up in the morning and it was already so hot. It got up to 104 degrees! And the locals say this is cold weather for this time of year.
I hope we don't have too much of that this summer. Who knows. Still, I am having the time of my life, and there is nowhere on earth I'd rather be right now than biking across the country with the wonderful Ride:Well team. They are so amazing. Everyone is doing such a great job and has such a positive attitude. Yes!!!!!!
Well, there's so much left to say, but it's gonna have to wait. The memorable thing about memories is that they are remembered for a very long time, and so I will take lots of pictures and tell you lots of stories later. It's all about the climb!
